A Historic Day for EFCI: Meeting with Commissioner Schmit

Last Tuesday, 9/07, our President Lorenzo Mattioli and Director General Miguel Caramello-Alvarez from EFCI – European Cleaning and Facility Services Industry, together with CoESS – Confederation of European Security Services and FoodServiceEurope, met with Commissioner Schmit and his cabinet to discuss critical issues in public procurement.

We followed with great interest the recent debate on the role of social award criteria in public procurement at the January Plenary meeting of the European Parliament. It was encouraging to hear Commissioner Schmit’s acknowledgment that more contracts could be awarded based on criteria beyond the lowest price. Importantly, the Commission is committed to evaluating whether further legislative actions are necessary.

This day marks a historic moment for EFCI, highlighting our commitment to advocating for fair and socially responsible award criteria in public procurement.

Our associations look forward to continuing this dialogue and collaborating with the incoming Commission to drive positive changes in public procurement practices.

A special thank you to all our members for their ongoing support and dedication.
